Final posting

Well... this is my final posting for BITE 5200. I had a good time with this course. However life goes on! I am traveling now as I am in Augusta Georgia. I resigned from IBM three weeks ago and started my new career as a contractor. I guess I like it however I do miss my family. I hooked up some video conferencing software on both my laptop and my wife's laptop. It's free software from Logitech called VID. I like it because it is very simple to set up.

Last nite, we video conferenced around 7ish. Michael seemed that he was in a good mood. He looked really active. Jeannette looked good too however I sensed that she was pretty tired. She tries to put on a good show but unfortunately I can see through it.

This next week I hope to graduate. I have worked extra hours this week to compensate for next week. I need to discuss with my boss on how he wants to bill them.

Anyways.. I'm done for this week updating this blog! I wish everyone the best of luck!

This week at Kindermusik - work - life etc.

Michael had a good time at Kindermusik this week. He listened to the song Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes and can point to his head and his feet in the song. During the week, he started saying Thank You when we would give him Cheerios or a cookie. Once in a while he would say please if he wanted another one. We still have a lot of work to do!

Work went well. I am winding down at IBM and gearing up for my job as a contractor. I still have to buy some office supplies however I'm about 90% done. I will be away from home multiple weeks at a time. My wife isn't too happy about that but she understands that I'm doing this for her and Michael.

Random stuff this week. I was watching the news and they brought up the subject of San Francisco City Council approving "Meatless Mondays". The lady who was the chairperson of the group for this was being interviewed. I think it was by FoxNews or CNN. Anyways.. talk about a nut case! She wants everyone to become vegetarians because she wants to save the environment. The news person even stated that they recently noted that the studies about methane emissions and cattle were inaccurate and the data used was not correct. Watch out people! Nut jobs like these people will take your rights away in a heart beat! Hmmm... Pelosi represents San Francisco. Could there be a connection?

OK... I'm off my soapbox now. I hope everyone has a great week and starts to enjoy this spring!

This week at Kindermusik - work - life etc.

This week was an exciting week for my work. I resigned from IBM, taking a job as a contractor. Most people would ask... Why in the world would I do something like this? In these economic times, IBM is a full-time job. What people don't know is that my job was already being dissolved at IBM. We (my department) were told last January that we were losing our jobs before the end of 2010. So I've been living on pins and needles since then. I am very happy that I worked at IBM. I am very excited for my new job!

Michael had a very good time at Kindermusik. He is getting more and more active and I am seeing his attention span growing. Unfortunately Kindermusik is at 7pm and by 7:45pm, Michael is ready to go to bed.

This weekend is Easter weekend. I am looking forward to it because I took Friday and Monday off. Additionally, we are going over to my wife's brothers' house on Sunday and have Easter with her side of the family.

Have a good week everyone!

This week at Kindermusik - work - life etc.

Well... Michael had a good time at Kindermusik. There are now 4 kids there and it was nice to see another dad show up. I don't mind going however I am the only dad there. My wife and I go together to Kindermusik as it makes controlling Michael easier.

Michael got a new toy this weekend. We got tired of worrying about him climbing on the recliner then jumping from there over to the couch. We got a Little Tykes slide. He took to it quickly and now uses his energy on that. BTW.. he is only 16 months old.

Work was work this week. Nothing new there. I did receive my cap and gown for graduation and I am looking forward to becoming a college grad. It took me 20 years but I will finally make it!

Have a great week!

This week at Kindermusik - work - life etc.

Last night we went to KinderMusik. By "we" I mean my wife, Michael, and myself all went. Michael had a lot of fun. The theme for the night was "Sounds of an Aquarium". Michael seemed to enjoy the music and interacted well with the other two boys. Even though they are older, Michael did well interacting with them.

Last Friday, I made plans to go golfing with my brother at Myrtle Beach on March 10th through the 13th. This will be the first time I will be away from my wife and family since we got married 4 years ago. I am looking forward to this!

Work is going well. As with the times, I am thankful that I have a job. Granted I know my job will be phased out this year due to restructuring, I am confident that I will find another job quickly.

I had two posts last week that mentioned that they were classmates of mine last semester. Wow! Small world. I am really enjoying college this time around and the challenges it is offering.

Well..... good luck everyone. See you next week!

This week at Kindermusik - work - life etc.

Last night, my wife and I took my son to Kindermusik up at the local church. Michael is 14 months and we started taking him to the class last summer. Anyway back to last night. There were two other families there. One family has a 2 year boy and the other family has a 11 month girl. We were missing one family because of the stomach flu. We had a good time with Michael and working with him on focusing on the musical instruments, listening to the story, and overall listening to the music. He did pretty good considering he got pretty tired at the end.

I am trying my best not to voice my opinion about our government however I am too familiar with the "Chicago Politics" since I'm originally from Central Illinois. I am glad that some focus is going to be put on education however I feel that it is too little. Our teachers are already too overburdened with the paperwork and bureaucratic nonsense that they have to deal with along with teaching our kids.

It was a good day at work today. I was actually able to catch up with all the problem tickets and was able to complete all the work requests ahead of their due date. All of the Notes servers that I manage are working without any issues. Wow! I actually feel like something was accomplished!

Finally, I am getting caught up with all of my software training that I am doing on my free time. I am exploring Windows 7, Domino server 8.5, and able to build my test environment. My next thing is to start getting back to Photoshop and other graphic arts applications once I complete my Active Directory configuration.

Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Matt. I am a student at ECU (Eastern Carolina University). I had to create a blog for my assignment. Basically, I don't have a clue on what I am going to talk about so this is going to be a pretty oddball blog.
